If you are the host of a game, you can invite players to your game anytime before the battle actually starts. You can invite existing Fleet Combat Online players, or you can invite people that haven't joined yet at all.
Go to the battle detail screen by creating a new game, or by clicking on the my current battles link and then clicking on the game you want to invite players to.
At the bottom of the game detail screen is a text box that says "Invite Players". Type in the Fleet Combat Online username OR the email address of a person you want to invite. You can enter many in this box at once, just type each username or email on its own line. Then click the invite button.
The system will then send out an email message to each of those people with a link they can click on to come straight to your game. If the user is not already a Fleet Combat Online player, they will be taken to the signup page first so they can sign up. Then they will be taken straight to your game to join it.
If you set up your game to be "private", then inviting players in this way is the ONLY way to get players into your game. You cannot just tell someone about your game, you MUST send them an invite through this feature in order for them to be allowed in.
If you set your game up as "public" then anybody can join whether they were invited or not. This is done on a first-come-first-serverd basis. So if you create a public game with a maximum of four players and send out invites, it is possible that the game will be full by the time your friends see their invite and try to join.
