Build Your Fleet

[Bibliography item label not found.]As a fleet commander, you will need ships. The more ships you can get your hands on, the better. You aquire ships by requisitioning them from your superiors. The number and size of ships you can requisition depends on the amount of command points you have.

You requistion ships on the browse ships page. Here you will see all the different classes of ships that are available in the Fleet Combat Online navy. The listing shows the stats for each ship such as its size and weight as well as the type of engines, weapons and other sub systems.

Also listed are the batte statistics for that ship class. This shows you how successful other fleet commanders have been with using that class of ship. You will see how many times that class of ship has survived an entire battle vs. how many times it has been destroyed. The kill ratio is also shown.

The most important stat is the command points. This shows how much "pull" with your superiors you need to have in order to requisition this ship. New ensigns start out with 1000 command points. This is enough for two large ships or eight of the smallest ships.

Next to each ship is a "Requisition" button. Click it to request that ship be added to your fleet. If the button is disabled, then it means you do not have enough CP to request that ship.

Once added to your fleet, you can give the ship a name. Ships will stay in your fleet until you specifically remove them. If they are destroyed in battle, then the loss of that ship only affects that one battle. You will still have the ship in your fleet so it can go on to fight other battles. In fact you can have the same ship engaged in more than one battle at a time.

The best approach to building a fleet is to mix ship classes. Have an equal balance of small, fast ships with short range weapons and some large ships with long range, heavy hitting weapons. If you restrict yourself to one class of ship then you will be vulnerable to someone who knows the weaknesses of that one classs.

For example, a good starting fleet is two light ships and two larger ones like this
2 Lancer Class Scouts
1 Halifax Class Frigate
1 Fayette Class Frigate

This is a total of 955 CP. The Lancers are very fast and agile and will drive your enemy nuts by turning circles around them and probably getting to their ships before your bigger ships are in range of their weapons. The Halifax has a Mass Driver which is a very powerful long range weapon. The Fayette has medium range missiles, but it can fire four of them at once which is a good punch.

Build your fleet how you like and name your ships after your pets and then you are ready for battle.
